The modern Indonesian alphabet is basically the same as Latin alphabet, consisting of 26 letters. If you have learned English before, then you won't have any problems writing in Indonesian. However, these letters sound differently than English alphabet.

There are 5 vowels in Indonesian.

e	에 / 으	This letter has two sounds. A word containing letter e may have different meaning when read with wrong sound. For the purpose of learning, we will write 으 as e, and 에 as é.
